Welcome, and thank you for visiting our campaign website.  I'm Ryan Higgins, your reform candidate for Illinois State Representative for the 56th District.

If you're like me, you're deeply concerned about the direction our state is heading.  After decades of failed economic policies, Illinois has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country -- nearly 11% -- and ranks 48th among the 50 states in job creation and economic performance.  In addition, state government spending is out-of-control -- having increased 39% (adjusted for inflation) from 1998 to 2008 -- and public confidence in our elected officials and state institutions has been eroded by pay-to-play politics and corruption.

Enough is enough.  Citizens from across the state -- of all political stripes -- are beginning to recognize that the status quo cannot continue.  It is time to restore public confidence in our elected officials and state institutions by reforming state election laws and legislative practices.  It is time to restore fiscal discipline and accountability to all levels of government, and to put Illinois back on a path toward prosperity.
