Daily Herald - "State Rep. Candidates Share Stances on Special Needs"

Daily Herald Staff Report

The candidates vying to succeed retiring Democratic state Rep. Paul Froehlich of Schaumburg met formally for the first time May 4 at Schaumburg Township Hall to share their positions on state funding for special needs kids.

The forum featured Republican Ryan Higgins and Democrat Michelle Mussman, both of Schaumburg, who are both candidates for the 56th District state representative seat.

The event was organized by Mike Baker, a Schaumburg parent and member of the Autism Society of America. Baker intended the forum to be an opportunity for parents of special needs children to hear from both candidates on the issue of funding for services. as well as to ask them questions.

The 56th district covers Schaumburg, and parts of Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Roselle, Hanover Park and Bloomingdale.
